Man strongly smelling of alcohol arrested for assaulting police officer in St. John’s
RNC officers responded to an unknown trouble call around 1 a.m. this morning in St. John’s. A male, who was not wearing a shirt, socks or footwear, approached the officers. He was unsteady on his feet and smelled strongly of alcohol.
The male continued to go into the road and was approaching officers yelling and swearing. He pushed one of the officers and raised his fists to fight. He was advised he was under arrest for assaulting a police officer, however he continued to resist arrest. As a result, he was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and breach of his release order. He was held for court.
