Maduro pleads not guilty in U.S. court
Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro declared himself innocent as he pleaded not guilty to federal drug trafficking charges in a U.S. courtroom earlier today.
“I’m innocent. I am not guilty. I am a decent man, the president of my country,” Maduro said.
Maduro made his first appearance on the narco-terrorism charges in U.S. court. The now deposed Venezuelan ruler was captured during a U.S. military operation over the weekend.
Wearing a jail uniform, he and his wife were led into court for a brief legal proceeding. His next court date is set for March 17.
