Hurricane-force winds punish Trepassey

Local News, News

The Town of Trepassey is fractured today as the town’s breakwater gave way overnight in the heavy wind and strong waves, cutting off the lower coast from the rest of the community and province.

Trepassey is currently without service, or internet connection, making the situation even more terrifying for those residents who are stranded on the lower coast. It’s what the residents have been fearing, and advocating for, after the breakwater came down in a storm two years ago. Ever since, the infrastructure has been a constant worry for the Town of Trepassey, and now with it down once again, residents are hoping for a permanent solution.

NTV’s Marykate O’Neill is in the community today and will have reports in NTV Newsday, First Edition and 6.
