Deer Lake RCMP investigating after vehicle crashes into seniors’ home
Deer Lake RCMP is investigating after a vehicle crashed into a local seniors’ home during the early morning hours on Saturday, causing extensive damage to the exterior of the building. The driver of the vehicle fled from the scene, but identified himself to police later the same day.
At approximately 2:35 a.m. on Oct 25, Deer Lake RCMP, Deer Lake Fire Rescue and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to a report that a vehicle had crashed into a seniors’ home on Nicholsville Road. The vehicle and driver were not at the scene when police arrived.
No injuries were reported, however there was extensive damage to the exterior of the building.
On Saturday afternoon, the driver of the vehicle — a 33-year-old man — identified himself to police, and is facing a charge of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
The investigation is ongoing, with additional charges possible.
