Update: Driver facing charges following dramatic two-vehicle collision
A collision in the east end of St. John’s on Friday on evening saw one vehicle go down an embankment, nearly smashing through the window of an office building. As a result, one man is facing charges.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. emergency crews were called to the intersection of Torbay Road and Highland Drive. A sedan had been struck by a compact SUV that then traveled down an embankment, dropping over a retaining wall. The vehicle came to rest against a nearby office building.
Three people in the sedan were assessed by paramedics at the scene, but were not taken to hospital.
The 38-year-old male driver of the SUV was arrested at the scene and brought to RNC headquarters where he failed the breath test. As a result, he was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Impaired and Operating a Vehicle While Impaired with a Blood Alcohol concentration >80mg. He was released to appear at a later date.
