With Canada’s skiing season in full swing, new research has unveiled the country’s top hidden gem resorts, where locals and tourists can enjoy the slopes without huge crowds – with one Labrador ski resort ranking among the best

The research, by Jackpot City, looked at 173 ski resorts nationwide, comparing their visitor ratings and number of reviews to pinpoint where the fewest people are visiting but rating them highly, highlighting Canada’s most underrated ski spots.

Menihek Nordic Ski Club in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, has emerged as one of the top two hidden gem resorts for the 2025/2026 ski season, just behind Mount Maichen in Watson Lake, Yukon.

With 4.9 stars out of 5 with 16 reviews, Menihek Nordic Ski Club is a beloved destination among cross-country skiers and snowshoers. Surrounded by birch and spruce forests with the option for evening ski runs, the resort takes second spot for the second year running.

Mount Maichen in Watson Lake, Yukon, topped the list with a rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars from just nine reviews, continuing its winning streak from last year. The resort offers runs suited to all skill levels, stunning scenery, and snow that remains dry and powdery all season long.

Nearly every province included in the analysis appeared at least once among the top 10 hidden gems; however, British Columbia, one of Canada’s largest and most renowned skiing regions, secured two spots. Both of its featured resorts hold ratings of 4.8 out of 5 and offer extensive options for alpine skiing, cross-country routes, and snowboarding.
