Police arrest man for impaired operation, impound vehicle
Bay St. George RCMP charged a 34-year-old man with impaired operation and refusal to comply with a demand early Saturday morning. The vehicle he was driving — which had been taken without the owner’s permission — was seized by police and impounded.
On Dec. 13, at approximately 1:37 a.m., officers responded to a call at a residence on Steel Mountain Road in St. George’s. The caller reported that their vehicle had been taken by a man they knew, without their permission, and that they believed the man was operating under the influence of alcohol.
Officers patrolled the area and located the vehicle near the intersection of Main Street and Steel Mountain Road. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver showed signs of intoxication. The 34-year-old man was arrested and provided with a demand for a breath sample. He refused, and police charged him with impaired operation and failure or refusal to comply with a demand.
Police also issued the driver a ticket for operating with a suspended driver’s license.
The vehicle he was driving was seized by officers and impounded. The man was released from custody with conditions and is expected to appear in provincial court in February 2026.
