Jim Dinn has won the NDP leadership by acclamation, the party announced Tuesday.
Nominations closed Monday afternoon with Dinn as the only candidate coming forward. Dinn had been serving as interim leader since 2021, when Alison Coffin stepped down after losing a leadership review vote.
Dinn had initially disavowed any interest in holding the leadership permanently, but changed his mind in 2023 after receiving encouragement to run from within the party. He now leads a caucus of three in the House of Assembly with Labrador MHAs Jordan Brown and Lela Evans.
βFor two years Jordan Brown, Lela Evans, and I have focused on the needs of the people of the province, and we will continue to do exactly that,β Dinn said in a statement.
