Provincial government expanding and improving access to addiction treatment and supports at Humberwood Treatment Centre

Health, Local News, News

The provincial government has committed to expand and improve access to addictions treatment and recovery support services at the Humberwood Treatment Centre in Corner Brook.

The announcement was delivered at the centre early this morning by Health Minister Joedy Wall, through an investment of $3.75 million in budget 2026, as part of a multi-year project totalling $8.25 million.

The province says the expansion will increase access to community based detox services by establishing four dedicated short-stay beds for individuals who require same-day or next-day admission in the first phase. The expansion also includes 6 additional beds to increase in-patient capacity at the centre – in the second phase.

The facility currently holds a 12-bed, 28-day in patient treatment facility that supports the recovery and growth of individuals 18 years and older, living with substance use disorders and addictions.

NL Health Services has engaged the services of CORE engineering to complete the first phase of enhancements, which is expected to start this fall.
