It was an emotional day of testimony as the formal hearings got underway for the the inquiry respecting the treatment, experiences and outcomes of Innu in the child protection system.
During the five-day hearings this week in Sheshatshiu, the commissioners will hear from witnesses about Innu health and well-being, Innu history and the impact of child welfare in Innu communities.
The hearings run until Friday, are open to the public and are live streamed.
