Fire broke out at a business in the east end of St. John’s on Friday.

It A1 automotive on East White Hills Road. Black smoke could be seen billowing from the building. Platoon Chief Mike Hall with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department the fire started in the garage area and spread to the office quarters.

But the fire was contained within about three hours. More than two dozen employees escaped safely. There were no reports of injuries.
