Hundreds of students to participate in Skilled Career Day on Friday
Over 1,000 junior high, high school and post-secondary students and apprentices are expected at the Annual Skilled Career Day featuring the Skills Canada Newfoundland and Labrador provincial competitions.
Set for Friday at the College of the North Atlantic’s Prince Philip Drive Campus in St. John’s, it’ll be a busy day for students.

Career Showcase: 9:00am – 2:00pm

Skills Canada Newfoundland and Labrador (SCNL)’s Annual Skilled Career Day brings together over 1,000
young people to celebrate excellence in skilled career pathways, entrepreneurism and skills for success. The Skilled Career Day features Provincial Competitions in skilled trades, technology and employability
categories for high school and college students, a Career Showcase, Try-A-Trade® and Tech demonstrations, a Skilled Futures for Women Conference, Partner’s and Teacher’s Receptions, campus
student tours and an exciting Awards Ceremony.
The SCNL Provincial Competition brings youth into a competitive spotlight while demonstrating the complexity and talent involved in skilled careers. Over 300 regional finalists from across Newfoundland and Labrador (including intermediate, secondary and post-secondary students and apprentices) will
compete in over 40 competition areas.
The provincial competition offers a unique opportunity for top students to demonstrate that they are the best in their field. At the Annual Skilled Career Day, student competitors impress their educators, family, friends, and prospective employers. Winners are awarded with gold, silver, or bronze medals and the opportunity to compete at the Skills Canada National Competition in Toronto, Ontario in May as part of Team Newfoundland and Labrador 2026
