Sunday Evening Newshour

The NTV Sunday Evening Newshour is the province’s only televised weekend news broadcast. The program gathers all the weekend’s top news events, from politics to arts and entertainment and much more. The broadcast also presents an array of special weekly features, such as “Our Time,” when Becky Daley finds out what issues matter to the province’s youth. Join Jodi Cooke and Amanda Mews at 6 p.m., 5:30 in most of Labrador, each Sunday on Canada’s Superstation, NTV.

U.K. man sets sail from St. John’s Harbour, attempting to set record for smallest vessel to cross Atlantic

A British man is attempting to break the world record as the smallest vessel to cross the Atlantic. Andrew Bedwell set sail from St. John’s harbour on Saturday afternoon.

The vessel is just over 100cm long and Bewell says it will be a minimum of a 1900 mile solo sailing passage across the Atlantic.

He is attempting to break the record in a boat he calls the ‘Big C’, aiming to raise funds for cancer research. It’s an effort especially close to his heart right now, as his father died from cancer just one week ago.

On the Mark: Alex Newhook and Dawson Mercer reach 100-game milestones in NHL

Alex Newhook played his 100th NHL game for the Colorado Avalanche this week, just weeks after Dawson Mercer accomplished the same feat with the New Jersey Devils. NTV’s Mark Dwyer reports.
