Pedestrian taken to hospital after collision with Metrobus

A pedestrian was taken to hospital on Wednesday night after being struck by a Metrobus.

The incident happened on Elizabeth Avenue, near Elizabeth Towers, at about 9:45 p.m.. Witness reports from the scene indicate the male pedestrian left the sidewalk in front of an eastbound Metrobus and was struck. The impact left the front windshield of the bus shattered. The individual was helped by first responders before being placed in an ambulance. He was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

There were no injuries to the driver of the bus, or to any of the passengers on board.

Elizabeth Avenue was closed east of Portugal Cove Road as the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary documented the scene.
