Early-morning fire in Paradise destroys garage, causes damage to home
A fire early Sunday morning in Paradise has leveled a garage, and caused considerable damage to the nearby home.
Shortly before 5:00 a.m. firefighters were called to the scene, on Janal’s Road. Derek Hunt, Platoon Chief with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department stated that when crews first arrived a garage at the rear of the home was fully engulfed in flames. Fire had also spread to the back of the house, a fence, and trees surrounding the garage.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, however the garage and its contents were destroyed. The home sustained smoke, fire, and water damage.
Residents of the home, who were alerted to the fire by a quick-thinking neighbour, have been displaced. There were no injuries to report. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
