RCMP arrests impaired ATV operator

Justice, Local News, News

An all-terrain vehicle (ATV) operator was charged with impaired operation after he was stopped by RCMP Traffic Services Central on Saturday evening.

On July 4, at approximately 7:30 p.m., RCMP Traffic Service Central was conducting routine patrols in Bishop’s Falls when an officer observed a side-by-side operator and a passenger traveling without helmets.

When the vehicle stopped at a gas station on Main Street, and the officer approached the driver, the 53-year-old male showed signs of impairment. He failed a roadside screening and was arrested for impaired operation.

The driver was brought to the Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP Detachment where he provided additional samples up to twice the legal limit. He was released to appear in court at a future date on charges of impaired operation and impaired operation over 80mg%.

In addition, the ATV he was operating was seized and impounded, and his driver’s licence was suspended.
