Police investigate robbery on Mount Pearl walking trail, woman treated for minor injuries
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a robbery on a walking trail in Mount Pearl.
Just after 9:30 a.m. today, the RNC responded to a robbery in the Carroll Drive area of Mount Pearl. A woman reported that she was approached by a man on the Admiralty Walking Trail where he presented a weapon and tried to take her belongings before fleeing the area in the direction of Richard Nolan Drive.
The woman was treated by paramedics for minor injuries. It is believed the pair did not know each other.
Operational Patrol Services responded to the call, and immediately engaged Police Dog Services, a drone operator, officers on all-terrain vehicles, as well as Mount Pearl Municipal Enforcement, to assist in the search of the man responsible.
The male suspect, who has not yet been located is described as a thin, tall caucasian, who was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the matter and is encouraging anyone who was in the area between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. and who may have information to contact police by calling 709-729-8000.
Residents of Mount Pearl should expect an increased police presence throughout the weekend.
