Man charged with impaired driving causing death after centre-city collision
The RNC has charged a man after a fatal impaired driving collision in St. John’s.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on June 12, Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Mayor Avenue and Newtown Road. There were four people in the vehicle at the time of the collision; a 24-year-old succumbed to his injuries. The three others were transported to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Accident Investigation section was engaged and today (June 23), Collision Reconstructionists charged 21-year-old Koushik Ghosh with the following:
- Impaired Driving Causing Death
- Two counts of Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm
- Dangerous Operation Causing Death
- Two counts of Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm
- Two counts of Operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration that is equal to or exceeds 80 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood and Causing Bodily Harm
- Operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration that is equal to or exceeds 80 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood and Causing Death
