Wide temperature range across Newfoundland and Labrador Thursday, some reaching mid-20’s
Ryan Harding, NTV Weather Centre

As always, the wind dictates the daytime highs across the province on Thursday, bringing a wide range of three to 24 degrees.
The south west wind that brought the eastern side of Newfoundland back into seasonal temperatures will stick around another day, leaving the Avalon and Central regions aiming to crack the 20 degree mark, however, it comes in at a quicker pace which should be noticeable.
Meanwhile, the wind shifts west for the West Coast, dropping the temperature into the low to mid-teens by late afternoon, while the wind swirls back from the north for the Northern Peninsula, dropping things to sub-five degrees.

Sun and cloud for Most of Newfoundland while rain travels north Thursday
A large portion of the island will spend the day with clear skies and clouds increasing into the evening hours.
However, there is a stream of rain moving across the Northern Peninsula starting Thursday morning bringing 10-20 mm from Port au Choix to St. Anthony. There is a break in the rain late Thursday afternoon before returning for the evening and overnight.
There could be some wet snow at the tip of the Great Northern Peninsula near the midnight hour as the temperature drops close to zero. That rain also picks up as light rain on the West Coast, Baie Verte Peninsula and through Central late Thursday evening.

The north wind is going to effect Labrador’s coast first on Thursday with daytime highs limited to single digits. The north wind takes over inland Labrador, dropping the temperature below ten degrees by the late afternoon while the coastline flirts with the zero mark in some communities.
Cloud looks to come and go through the day, offering mainly cloudy conditions with sunny breaks shared around.
Some morning rain spends time on the south coast, tallying up to 10-20 mm when it’s all said and done by the noon hour.
Meanwhile, Labrador West welcomes light rain near the supper hour Thursday for 2-4 mm.
