Driver escapes serious injury following early-morning crash on Outer Ring Road
The driver of a car is lucky to have escaped serious injury after a single-vehicle crash on the Outer Ring Road early Saturday morning.
At about 6:45 a.m. emergency crews responded to the highway, near the Portugal Cove Road interchange. The driver of an eastbound vehicle lost control, crashing into a guardrail. The car then rolled over through the median, coming to rest on its roof in the westbound lanes.
The driver of the car was able to get out of the car on their own, and was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be serious. The vehicle sustained extensive damage. Traffic was slowed in the westbound lanes until the damaged vehicle could be removed.
Roads were wet in light rain and visibility was reduced in heavy fog at the time of the incident.
