Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP responds to collision, impaired driver arrested
Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP arrested a 23-year-old woman for impaired operation Monday evening after police responded to a motor vehicle collision.
At approximately 5:45 p.m. on March 30, police received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Hamilton River Road. Police, the Happy Valley-Goose Bay Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services personnel all responded to the scene.
Paramedics transported occupants from one of the vehicles to hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
One of the drivers — a 23-year-old Sheshatshiu woman — showed clear signs of intoxication and was arrested at the scene for impaired operation. She was transported to the detachment, where she provided breath samples that were three times the legal limit.
The woman now faces Criminal Code charges including:
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle,
- Impaired operation over 80 mg%,
- Dangerous operation of a vehicle,
- Uttering threats against a person,
- Resist and or obstruct a police officer.
She was released from custody and will make her first appearance in Happy Valley-Goose Bay Provincial Court on June 25, 2026. Her vehicle was impounded and he her licence suspended.
