Vehicle left running in cul-de-sac leads to arrest

Members of RNC Operational Patrol Services responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the centre of St. John’s. A member of the public reported someone left their vehicle running in the middle of a cul-de-sac and fled the area on foot. when members arrived, they determined that the vehicle had collided with a snowbank causing damage to the vehicle. The RNC K9 was brought in and the person who fled , was located inside a nearby restaurant. This person denied any involvement, however, through the course of the investigation it was determined that he had provided the police with a false name. As a result, the 37 year old man was arrested for Public Mischief and Breaching his Release Order. A further check revealed there was also a warrant out for his arrest. He was held for court.
