New chapter of Safari Club International set up in this province

Nature, News

A new hunter rights and conservation not-for-profit organization has been set up in the province and it’s a name many hunters will recognize – Safari Club International.

The newest chapter of SCI was approved by Safari Club International board of directors on Feb. 17 at the annual convention in Nashville, Tennessee. SCI Newfoundland & Labrador board members and volunteers have been busy behind the scenes setting the groundwork in place for the public announcement here in the province.

“This brings the total number of chapters worldwide to 169,” said Jason St. Michael, SCI Director of Membership and Chapter Services. “This development marks an exciting milestone as it ensures representation from coast to coast across Canada.”

Newfoundland Chapter President Dean Crocker noted that Newfoundland and Labrador’s acceptance into Safari Club International signifies a period of significant opportunity. “SCI puts hunters at the forefront, utilizing their experience in fighting for wildlife conservation,” he said. “Their recent involvement in environmental assessments for projects like wind farms, will prove to be beneficial.”

SCI Newfoundland and Labrador is currently accepting new members. Both Newfoundland chapter and international membership is included in the single membership fee. Interested individuals can visit www.scinl.com to join and to learn more about SCI NL.
