Temperatures level out after a week of extreme swings and Thursday will be spent under sun and cloud for a welcomed break. There is some extra cloud over the Avalon into the afternoon which sets the table for some evening and overnight snow.

Thursday starts cool but sunny for Newfoundland and Labrador
Thursday starts off feeling quite cold, the effects from those biting west winds. However, the winds shift to the northwest and tapper off quickly, resulting in a more level day temperature-wise and gives us the opportunity to enjoy the sun and cloud that will accompany it.

By the afternoon some extra cloud builds on both the eastern side of Newfoundland and western side of Labrador while the remaining regions continue with the mix of sun and cloud.
Snow for Avalon Peninsula Thursday Night

This sets the table for a low-pressure system that is moving south of Newfoundland to reach the Avalon and grasp it with it’s outer bands.
With the temperatures settled below zero, snow makes landfall on the southern portion of the Avalon by 9 pm Thursday evening. The snow reaches the Metro region through the overnight, clearing completely by Friday morning.
The southern and eastern side of the Avalon is on the docket for 5-10 cm while the CBN region can anticipate 2-4 cm with flurries reaching the Bonavista Peninsula.
