Gold, silver and bronze for Canada on second last day of Winter Olympics
Canada’s curlers and speedskaters powered the country to gold, silver and bronze medals in the second last day of the Winter Olympics in Italy on Saturday.
Canada’s men’s curling team won gold with a 9-6 victory over Great Britain. Brad Jacobs, who led Canada’s last Olympic champion team back in 2014, became the first skip to win two gold medals.
The win came after Canada’s women’s curling team won bronze with a 10-7 victory over the United States. It was the first Olympic medal for Rachel Homan’s Ontario-based rink.
Speedskater Ivanie Blondin rounded out the set, taking silver for the second Olympics in a row in the women’s mass start event.
In total, Canada now has 20 medals at the 2026 Winter Olympics, with five gold, six silver and nine bronze.
Canada’s men’s hockey team will close out the Winter Olympics on Sunday in the gold medal game against the United States. Puck drop is 9:40 a.m. Newfoundland time.
