RCMP Traffic Services West stops excessive speeder on TCH

RCMP Traffic Services West suspended the licence of a 20-year-old driver on Thursday for traveling 60 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Around 2:15 p.m. on Jan. 8, an officer with RCMP Traffic Services Central conducting enforcement on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Lewisporte observed a vehicle travelling at speeds up to 160 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone.

A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver — a 20-year-old man — was ticketed for excessive speeding. His driver’s licence was suspended.
