Burin Peninsula RCMP seize vehicle after uninsured driver tries to avoid checkstop
Burin Peninsula RCMP pulled over a novice driver who attempted to avoid a checkstop in Grand Bank early Tuesday morning. The 18-year-old man was issued a ticket for operating without valid insurance and the vehicle was seized by police.
On Dec. 30, at approximately 1:18 a.m., police observed a vehicle attempting to avoid a checkpoint in Grand Bank and conducted a traffic stop. The 18-year-old driver was operating with a learner’s permit, which prohibits driving between the hours of 12:00 – 5:00 a.m. In addition, the car did not have a valid insurance policy.
The vehicle was towed and impounded, and the driver was issued tickets under the Highway Traffic Act for contravening a condition of their licence and for the insurance coverage violation.
