Taco Bell expected to open in Mount Pearl on Dec. 27; OZ FM’s radio personality Robert Shawn selected as first customer

Although many people are salivating about their tasty annual Christmas Day turkey dinner, some are thinking about tacos.

Robert Andrews, who is best known on air as Robert Shawn, has been waiting for this day for a long time.

On Dec. 27, following months of mystery and speculation, Taco Bell is expected to open its new location in this province. Andrews, who has documented his culinary love for the world-famous chain, was selected as the store’s first customer. The local radio veteran was overjoyed when he received the call from Taco Bell headquarters. In fact, he has the digital footprint to confirm it – “The First Person to Eat at Taco Bell, Mount Pearl.”

Andrews, who is actually from Mount Pearl, has loved Taco Bell as long as he can remember, eating at locations all over North America. And as for his favoruite meal? It’s a tough choice but his go-to would be the Gordita, a hard-shell taco wrapped in a soft shell which, as he notes, is the best of both worlds.

The store is expected to open at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Andrews, of course, will be the happiest person there.

Taco Bell opened its first location in 1962 and now has almost 9,000 stores all over the world.
