Justice, News

The RNC in the Corner Brook Region conducted multiple traffic checkpoints over the weekend.

Police officers were working to detect impaired driving and ensuring valid license, registration, and insurance. Checkpoints were held in Meadows, Benoit’s Cove and Pasadena. During these checkpoints, there were multiple Summary Offence Tickets issued for various offences.

During a traffic safety stop on Humber Road in Corner Brook Friday (Dec. 19) around 8:30 p.m., a 36-year-old man was found to be impaired above the provincial limit. As a result, he had his licence suspended and vehicle seized.

Another traffic safety stop in Corner Brook Saturday, Dec. 20 just before 4 a.m. in the area of Park Street resulted in impaired driving charges for a 33-year-old woman from Pasadena. She too had her license suspended and vehicle seized. She was released to appear in court at a later date.

The RNC continues to urge the public to report dangerous and impaired driving directly to police by calling 911.
