Holyrood RCMP urging people to come forward if they were scammed on Facebook Marketplace
Police are asking people to come forward as they investigate an online Marketplace scam.
In November, Holyrood RCMP received a report from an individual who paid a deposit via e-transfer for a purchase from Facebook Marketplace, and believed they may be victim of a scam. An investigation found the social media account and email associated with the transaction were connected to other suspicious online activity.
RCMP believe there are likely other victims in the province, and is urging those who experienced a similar online marketplace scam to contact their local police detachment. The investigation is ongoing.
