More Than $70,000 in food and cash donated as Newfoundland Power and the Community Food Sharing Association celebrate generosity at the Downtown St. John’s Christmas Parade
The final results are in – 10,767 pounds of food, valued at $39,192, along with $6,554 in cash donations, were gathered from parade-goers. Combined with Newfoundland Power’s donation of $25,000, the total value of this year’s contributions is an impressive $70,746.
A record number of Newfoundland Power employees, retirees, and their families volunteered along the parade route, collecting food and cash donations to help restock shelves during the busy holiday season. Thousands of families lined the streets, helping fill donation carts in support of food banks across Newfoundland and Labrador — a proud partnership tradition spanning more than 25 years.

Since 1999, Newfoundland Power’s partnership with the Community Food Sharing Association through the Downtown St. John’s Christmas Parade has resulted in more than 473,700 pounds of food collected and over $1.1 million in combined food and monetary donations. This long-standing tradition remains a cornerstone of Newfoundland Power’s holiday season, reflecting the generosity of employees, retirees, their families, and the wider community.
