Bay St. George RCMP respond to single vehicle crash, impaired driver arrested
Bay St. George RCMP charged a 65-year-old Stephenville man with impaired operation last night after a single vehicle crash near Black Duck Siding.
On Dec. 16, at approximately 9:56 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle that had gone over an embankment into a ditch near Black Duck Siding. Police responded and located a male driver at the scene, uninjured. He showed signs of impairment and confirmed that he had consumed alcohol prior to driving.
The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested. He was transported to the detachment where he provided additional breath samples well over the legal limit. His vehicle was seized and impounded.
The 65-year-old driver was later released from custody and is expected to appear in provincial court in February 2026 to answer to charges of impaired driving.
