RCMP arrest suspended driver for violating release order, possession of a controlled substance
Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP arrested a 42-year-old man on Tuesday morning after a traffic stop revealed he was operating with a suspended licence, was in possession of a controlled substance and violating his court-ordered /.
On Nov. 18, at approximately 7:30 a.m., an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Brett Street and discovered that the driver — 42-year-old Darren Dyson — had a suspended licence. Dyson was also bound by a court order to abide by a curfew.
He was arrested for breaching his release order, and a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the location and seizure of a quantity of cocaine.
Dyson was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court today to face charges of:
- Breach of a Release Order – 2 counts,
- Breach of an Undertaking – 2 counts,
- Possession of a controlled substance – cocaine.
