NTV to provide live coverage from Memorial Day Ceremony 10:30 this morning

July 1 is a time of celebration in Canada. In this province, it’s also a solemn day of remembrance. It marks one of the darkest days in the province’s history, the day a generation of Newfoundlanders were lost in the Battle of the Somme.
The Memorial Day ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the National War Memorial. NTV News will be covering the ceremony live.
The Newfoundland National War Memorial now includes a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, dedicated to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who died in service during the First World War and have no known grave. The tomb contains the remains of an unidentified soldier from the First World War, repatriated from France for last year’s 100th anniversary of the war memorial. The tomb is a black granite sarcophagus inscribed with “Known Unto God” in English and French, and a forget-me-not flower, a symbol of the Newfoundland Regiment.
NTV’s live coverage, hosted by Michael Connors, begins at 10:30 a.m.. It will also be streamed on ntv.ca
