Cruise Ship to arrive in St. John’s this afternoon

There will be a cruise ship visiting St. John’s today. The Azamara Quest, with 694 passengers, is scheduled to arrive in port at 1:00 p.m. The ship is scheduled to depart on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. Parking is limited on Harbour Drive during cruise ship visits to accommodate tour operators and other passenger transportation.

Bank of Canada to announce overnight rate today

Today, the Bank of Canada will announce its decision on the target for the overnight rate.  The announcement will be made at 11:15 a.m. Newfoundland time. On the last adjustment date on June 4, the rate was held at 2.75 percent; it was also held back in April.

Man arrested after assaulting police officer

On Tuesday evening at 11:30 p.m., the RNC responded to a call involving an intoxicated male in the metro region. The male was not cooperative with officers and assaulted one of them. The 55-year-old male was arrested for assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest. The accused is scheduled to appear in court this morning.
