St. John’s lifts fire ban

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department has lifted the fire ban due to the Provincial Fire Hazard Rating being low. The ban has been in effect since July 24. Open fires will be permitted, however, residents are reminded to check with their local municipality to confirm if a burning permit is required.

Gas price up, all other fuels fall

The cost of most fuels are down day. Gas is the exception which increased by 0.8 cents. Diesel fell 0.4 cents on the Island and 0.6 cents in western Labrador.
