Emergency personnel still on the scene after fire breaks out at Wild Cove landfill in Corner Brook
Emergency personnel are battling a fire this morning at the landfill in Wild Cove, located on the North Shore Highway in Corner Brook. The fire broke out around 10 o’clock Thursday evening. Western Regional Waste Management posted on Facebook that firefighters are on the scene, battling the blaze. There is no information on the cause of the fire at this time.
The City of Corner Brook had enacted a fire ban earlier in the day Thursday, as the fire index for much of the island was high at that time. Wild Cove will be closed to residential and commercial drop off until further notice.
Municipal waste collection received from curbside will not be affected by this announcement.
