The We Stand on Guard Again concert for Hurricane Fiona relief has officially raised over $2 million.
The final tally came in at $2,101,097.92. A little over $1 million came in from direct donations to the event, while the federal government matched those funds.
NTV will rebroadcast the concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The We Stand on Guard Again concert for Hurricane Fiona relief raised $1.69 million Sunday night, including matching funds from the federal government.
The concert was broadcast on NTV and featured a who’s who of Newfoundland and Labrador musicians to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross to help with relief efforts on the southwest coast, where Fiona caused extensive damage last month. The event was organized by local musicians, entertainers and the business community.
Among the big donors, Mary Brown’s contributed 100 per cent of Sunday’s sales, adding up to $335,000.
The We Stand on Guard Again relief concert for Fiona victims goes tonight at Mary Brown’s Centre in St. John’s. NTV will broadcast the concert live at 7:30.
The special benefit concert features Shanneyganock with Bud Davidge, Kellie Loder, The Irish Descendants, Masterless Men, Billy & The Bruisers, Women Of Rock, LadyLike with Jackie Sullivan, Terra Bruce Productions, Deantha Edmunds, Quote The Raven and Kubasonics, along with some special surprise guests who will be making appearances throughout the two-hour fundraising extravaganza. All proceeds will go to the Canadian Red Cross in support of local efforts in the wake of Hurricane Fiona.
