Teams advance to playoff round at Scotties Tournament of Hearts; Team NL finishes 1-7
Team Newfoundland and Labrador, skipped by Mackenzie Mitchell, finished out of the playoffs with a 1-7 record at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Mississauga, Ontario.
The St. John’s-based rink closed out round-robin play Thursday with an 8-5 loss to Prince Edward Island.
Newfoundland and Labrador’s lone win came in a lopsided 8-2 decision over Nunavut.
The Scotties champion will represent Canada at the world women’s curling championship.
