RNC make arrests related to violent attacks in Mount Pearl involving youth

Police have made several arrests and continue to investigate reports of multiple violent events involving youth in Mount Pearl.

In the last week, the RNC has received multiple reports related to violent events involving youth suspects in Mount Pearl. The events involved multiple youth suspects attacking other unsuspecting youth. The events have included weapons and theft of property. In some cases, the victims have sustained significant, non-life threatening, physical injuries.

The RNC Major Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division are actively investigating these events. At this stage, multiple arrests have been made with additional arrests expected. Charges pending include; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault causing bodily harm, robbery, assault, and uttering threats. More information related to the events and action taken by the investigative team will be provided as the investigation progresses. 

The RNC are currently seeking any information or video footage related to the violent events at the following times and locations:

  • Monday (Jan. 15) at St. Peter’s Junior High, Mount Pearl, at 11:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday (Jan. 16) in the area of Old Placentia Road and Munden Drive, Mount Pearl at 2:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday (Jan. 17) at the Reid Community Center, Mount Pearl between 7 p.m. and 7:25 p.m.
  • Saturday (Jan. 20) on Jeffers Drive, Mount Pearl at 6 p.m.
