We’re not out of the woods yet and we’re going to continue to see influenza and other respiratory illness, but CBS pharmacist Keith Bailey says serious infection is now trending downwards, from what they’re seeing.

The Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacist says they have issued far less Paxlovid in recent weeks compared to a big spike over Christmas and early January. That’s a drug used to treat Covid in some patients who may be more vulnerable than others. Bailey says fewer people are presenting with illness and the provincial dashboard says there are currently 9 people hospitalized in recent data, with respiratory illness.

NL Health Services continues to remind people that masking is the right option around those who are vulnerable and if possible, stay home when not feeling 100%.
