Inside Story: Innu Nation legal counsel says history dispute with province does affect land claim talks
It’s been over a month since a dispute erupted publicly between the province and the Innu Nation over historical timelines. The Provincial Archeology Office contends innu history in Labrador only goes back 300 years, will the Innu date their presence back thousands of years. The provincial government says this dispute does not affect land claim negotiations, but legal counsel for the Innu Nation says it does affect those talks, and other Indigenous leaders across the country are watching with concern.
