Woman arrested for flight from police
Harbour Breton RCMP arrested a 41-year-old woman over the weekend after she reportedly tried to escape from police during an attempted traffic stop.
Shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, officers patrolling route 360 near Conne River spotted a jeep being driven by a known suspended driver. When police tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped away.
Officers located the vehicle abandoned in a wooded area along a high-voltage transmission line. The driver was found at a nearby property, and she was arrested without incident.
The female suspect was released from custody and is expected in court in September. She faces a criminal charge of flight from police, along with several highway traffic act violations.
