Why now? Opposition parties question the timing of Premier Tony Wakeham’s cabinet shuffle

News, Politics, Uncategorized

Seven Ministers are on the move or have been given new responsibilities following Premier Tony Wakeham’s cabinet shuffle on Thursday. The switch up comes just days after the announcement of a new Churchill Falls deal with Quebec.

Opposition House Leader Lisa Dempster says she’s heard concerns from residents about mischaracterizations in the deal and that Wakeham has called off his election commitment of a referendum.

Meanwhile, NDP Leader Jim Dinn says he is concerned about continuity. Dinn used examples of discussions between the NDP and former Minister of Housing Joedy Wall on the transition of residents from Horizons 106 to supportive housing and conversations with former Minister of Environment Chris Tibbs on climate change planning.

NTV’s Bailey Howard will have more details on the NTV Evening Newshour.
