WEATHERING THE STORM: SPCA staff workers have sleep-over to care for animals
Everyone likes to feel safe and warm during a storm, especially our pets.
Tuesday night, while a fierce winter storm battered Eastern Newfoundland, two of the SPCA’s incredible staff members in St. John’s stayed overnight to make sure the shelter’s animals were safe, warm, and cared for.
As you can see from this picture, this sweet girl, Xina, clearly felt safe enough wrapped up in her duvet to get cozy on an air mattress after a long night — and that, according to staff, was exactly what they wanted.
The team remained at the shelter until other staff could safely make it in from the storm, which, along with high winds, dropped over 60 cm in certain parts of the Avalon.
Their staff’s dedication, compassion, and commitment to these animals is being applauded on social media with hundreds of people commenting on the post.
