Thanks for the memories: Brad Gushue’s illustrious Brier career comes to an end
Brad Gushue threw the final rock of his illustrious career at the Brier Saturday.
It wasn’t the ending hometown fans at Mary Brown’s Centre in St. John’s wanted, but they gave Gushue an extended standing ovation as there is no denying his legacy as one of the greatest of all time.
Brad Jacobs’ Team Canada defeated Gushue’s Team Newfoundland and Labrador 7-5 in the 3-4 Page Playoff Game on Saturday afternoon. The victory advanced Team Canada to Sunday’s semifinal and eliminated Team N.L. from the Montana’s Brier.
Gushue had announced his plans to retire at the end of the season. His legacy in men’s curling in Canada is unmatched, with Olympic gold and bronze medals, a world championship, and a record six Brier titles.
