Team Gushue lives to fight another day at the Brier, advancing in playoffs
Team Newfoundland and Labrador lived to fight another day at the Montana’s Brier after beating Ontario in the qualification round Friday night.
The Brad Gushue rink was pushed to the brink of elimination after losing earlier in the day to Team Dunstone of Manitoba 7-5. But Team Gushue rallied in their second game of the day, beating Ontario 12-6.
The win sets up a rematch in the Battle of the Brads against Team Canada’s Brad Jacobs in the 3-4 Page Playoff Game on Saturday afternoon. A victory in that game would send Gushue to Sunday afternoon’s semifinal for a chance to advance to Sunday night’s championship final at Mary Brown’s Centre.
