Team Canada finishes 3-0 at Paralympics; stage set for semifinal against China on Friday
Liam Hickey and Team Canada moved one step closer to the podium at the 2026 Paralympic Games in Italy. Canada’s Paralympic Hockey Team finished a perfect preliminary round with a 4-1 victory over Czechia – with Hickey picking up a goal and assist in that game, his eighth point of the tournament.
It now sets the stage for a semifinal matchup against China on Friday afternoon. These Paralympics mark a fourth Games for Hickey. A multi-sport athlete, he made his Paralympic debut in wheelchair basketball at Rio 2016 before switching to para ice hockey for the 2018 and 2022 Games – winning back-to-back silver medals.
He now has his sights set on gold in Italy.
