UPDATE: TCH closed for extended period near Hillview as police respond to collision; no detours available
The Trans-Canada Highway remains impassable due to a serious motor vehicle collision and is expected to be closed for an undetermined period.
There are no detours available and motorists are asked to avoid the area and delay travel plans.
RCMP NL recognises this closure is causing significant disruption and appreciates the public’s patience, understanding and cooperation as emergency responders continue their work at the scene.

Clarenville RCMP advise that both lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway are currently closed near Hillview, just south of the turnoff to Route 205, as emergency crews respond to a motor vehicle collision.
Please avoid the area if possible and expect delays. All motorists are asked to approach the area with caution and follow directions from traffic control personnel.
