St. John’s man charged with sexual assault

The RNC has charged a St. John’s man in connection with sexual violence upon a female in St. John’s.

On April 11, the RNC received a report of sexual assault that had occurred at a residence in the downtown area. The Child Abuse and Sexual Assault (CASA) Unit was engaged to investigate.

On July 20, 42-year-old Daniel Morrissey was charged with sexual assault, making harassing telephone calls and breaching a release order. He was held to appear in court.

All survivors of sexual violence are encouraged to reach out for help from a trusted resource as soon as it is safe to do so. Members of the CASA Unit are available to speak with anyone that has information or questions. With a trauma-informed focus, officers educate and inform survivors of their legal and investigative options while also directing them to appropriate resources based on their individual situation or needs.
